Currently in his third season at FC Barcelona, Hansi Flick has handled the media in an exceptional manner.<\/p>\n

Throughout his stint at the club, where media frenzy is a norm, Flick has shown the experience and composure to avoid unnecessary controversy, particularly in press conferences, where his message is usually straightforward and focused on the opponent in front of him.<\/p>\n

Barcelona\u2019s advice about Mourinho<\/p>\n

Even so, SPORT\u2019s David Bernabeu<\/a> reports that Barcelona felt it was worth giving Flick some advice about a situation he had not experienced first-hand and one in which they wanted him to remain particularly cautious \u2013 Jose Mourinho.<\/p>\n

Indeed, the journalist has now revealed that the Bar\u00e7a hierarchy gave a key piece of advice to their manager after Mourinho\u2019s return to the Real Madrid dugout was confirmed this summer.<\/p>\n

Barcelona explained to Flick what had happened during Mourinho\u2019s first spell at Real Madrid and the controversies that surrounded it.<\/p>\n

The Portuguese manager was considerably more confrontational at the time than he is perceived to be today, although there are still people who believe he could return to that approach when necessary.<\/p>\n

The club reminded Flick of Mourinho\u2019s infamous confrontation with the late Tito Vilanova, including the incident in which he poked his finger into Vilanova\u2019s eye, as well as the intense pressure Pep Guardiola faced during that period.<\/p>\n

As such, the message from the club to Flick about his Real Madrid counterpart was unequivocal:<\/p>\n

\u201cNot a word about Mourinho or Real Madrid.\u201d<\/p>\n

Flick has followed the advice<\/p>\n

Since returning to Real Madrid, Mourinho has already spoken about Barcelona<\/a>, in particular the Negreira case, while he has also praised the work done by Flick and Deco..<\/p>\n

However, the German head coach has followed the club\u2019s instruction closely, and there is little reason to expect his approach to change.<\/p>\n

Before Barcelona\u2019s opening league fixture against Elche when Flick was asked about Real Madrid and Mourinho\u2019s arrival, his response was direct.<\/p>\n

\u201cAre we playing Real Madrid tomorrow? Then ask me about Elche.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eventually, Flick will have to discuss Mourinho and Real Madrid when the Clasicos arrive. <\/p>\n

Questions about the rivalry will be unavoidable, particularly given Mourinho\u2019s history with Barcelona. Even then, however, Flick is expected to choose his words carefully.<\/p>\n

The objective is not to give Mourinho anything that could be used to create a new confrontation between the two clubs.<\/p>\n
