The action is part of the measures the Executive is taking to address the migration crisis occurring in the Spanish enclave in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>According to local media outlet <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rtve.es\/\">Rtve<\/a>, it was the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, \u00d3scar Puente, who signed the order, supported by Article 73.3 of the State Ports and Merchant Marine Law, allowing the use of 16,000 square meters of public port domain for the installation of tents for the reception and assistance of migrants.<\/p>\n<p>The area to be used will be the Poniente dock of the Ceuta port.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was made by La Moncloa (the Spanish Prime Minister&#8217;s official residence) following the refusal of the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Ceuta, an body that voted against the installation of the aforementioned tents.<\/p>\n<p>For its part, Puertos del Estado (State Ports) issued a favorable report regarding the measure, stating that &#8220;although the temporary occupation of the port facility may increase certain risks associated with the protection of critical infrastructure, sensitive facilities, and port operations, in this case, there are reasons of general interest that justify granting the requested authorization.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Spanish Government has taken control of the Port of Ceuta.
