If you\u2019re prepared to perhaps take a longer car journey to your final destination, a flight from <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/luton\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Luton<\/a> to Vigo will only cost \u00a3141.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1776840973_687_GettyImages-689731744.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28011783\" alt=\"La Marina Galleries, A Coru\u00f1a (Galicia)\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tGalicia has become a popular tourist destinations in Europe (Picture: Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>This won\u2019t be the only aviation news bringing Brits stress this week.<\/p>\n<p>A few days ago, <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/04\/16\/four-week-warning-easyjet-passengers-fuel-shortages-threaten-half-term-holidays-27996994\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"27996994\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">easyJet passengers learned they could face flight cancellations<\/a> as jet fuel costs surge to unprecedented levels following <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/iran\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Iran<\/a>\u2019s effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p>Boss Kenton Jarvis told media outlets: \u2018We have visibility to the middle of May.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>While the budget carrier insists \u2018we have no concerns\u2019, it\u2019s unlikely to do much to quell travellers\u2019 fears, given that \u2018mid-May\u2019 is just four weeks away.<\/p>\n<p><a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/ryanair\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ryanair<\/a>\u00a0shared a similar sentiment earlier this month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson told\u00a0Metro: \u2018We don\u2019t expect any near-term fuel shortages, but the situation is fluid. At present our fuel suppliers can guarantee supply to mid-end May.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>However, they also warned: \u2018If the closure of the Hormuz Straits continues into May or June then we cannot rule out risks to fuel supplies.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\tBrits are waking up to the \u2018unique region\u2019 of Galicia \t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>While the closure of Santiago-Rosal\u00eda de Castro Airport may act as a bit of a bump in the road, it shouldn\u2019t put you off visiting <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/04\/09\/caribbean-spain-one-worlds-best-beaches-flights-18-27883821\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Galicia<\/a> \u2013 a special corner of Northern Spain that is quickly becoming one of Brits\u2019 favourite Summer spots.<\/p>\n<p>Just 20 minutes from the airport is Santiago de Compostela City, famously the final destination of the Camino de Santiago, an iconic ancient pilgrimage. <\/p>\n<p>But there is more to Galicia than its capital.<\/p>\n<p>Visit the C\u00edes Islands, famously known as the \u2018islands of the Gods\u2019, for deep-blue seas and beachy beauty. In fact, one of the area\u2019s biggest pulls is Rodas Beach, named one of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/travel\/2007\/feb\/16\/beach.top10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">best 50 beaches in the world<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Or, why not check out Pontevedra.
