Africa leaders must reconnect to current realities for holistic growth – Salami JOHN SALAU Abiola Salami, convener, The Peak Performer (TPP) says leaders across the continent must be connected to the current realities to create sustainable growth in Africa. “The Peak Performer Festival was bom out of a simple but urgent conviction: that we cannot build great nations if we keep producing disconnected leaders,” Salami said during a press conference held at the TVC Communications headquarters, Eko Atlantic on Friday, October 31, 2025. Themed, ‘Powering People, Shaping Leaders & Sustaining Legacy with 21st Century Intelligence,’ Salami said the theme reflects the belief that in today’s world, intelligence is no longer just about Intelligence Quotient but about all round intelligence. According to him, the mission of TPP Fest 2025 is not just to train leaders in the short term but to heal, equip, and sustain leadership in the workplace. He added that leadership that endures must be disciplined in purpose, courageous in expression, and healed at the core. “That’s why at TPP Fest 2025, we are rewriting the script of leadership by coaching emerging leaders to develop GRIT and thrive against all odds, coaching women in leadership to say No More Shrinking when doubt whispers in the marketplace,” Salami said that young leaders across the continent get disconnected by anticipating promotion without necessarily developing the necessary discipline to grow through that promotion. According to him, the 2025 TPP Festival is presenting the intervention on how young people can take ownership and accountability to drive excellence and make contribution to their industry. “Over the years in CHAMP, our work across boardrooms and industries has revealed one undeniable truth: leadership is no longer just a title. It is an emotional, strategic, and spiritual responsibility,” Salami said. He also disclosed that TPP Fest 2025 is structured as a trilogy of leadership experiences captured in the emerging leaders’ summit, themed GRIT: How to Drive Accountability & Ownership in Young Talent. The women in leadership dinner, themed ‘No More Shrinking: Unleashing Untapped Creativity and Market Growth’ and the CEO Forum with the theme, taming the invisible toll of leadership. Yinka Adebayo, chairman, TPP Fest 2025, said the four-in-one conference will help in building leaders that can take the continent forward. According to him, Africa is too blessed to be poor, and that the continent cannot continue to play second fiddle on the global stage. Victoria Ajayi, CEO, TVC Communications, said leadership should be democratised and that true leadership starts with how people show-up every day, especially about walking the talk. She said that TVC is committed to leveraging its platform to amplify African voices to the global audience. “Building the right leadership culture matters. And that’s what will ensure we’re building the right leaders for tomorrow. So for us, it’s really important that we support this because we want good leaders.” L-R; Garima Khandelwal, head of marketing, Malta Guinness; Yinka Adebayo, chairman, TPP Fest 2025; Victoria Abiola Ajayi, Group CEO, TVC Communications, and Abiola Salami, convener, The Peak Performer (TPP), during the Peak Performer Festival 2025 press conference held on Friday, October 31, 2025 at the TVC Communications, headquarters, Eko Atlantic, Lagos.
