Kate Middleton in Gabriela Hearst Linen Suit at Wimbledon 2026

Kate Middleton, the royal patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, is a regular at Wimbledon every summer. For the past few years, however, she has only attended the finals—making her appearance today, on day four of the grass court Grand Slam, a surprise for fans.

As she arrived, the Princess of Wales stopped by the Queue, meeting visitors who arrived early hoping to get a ticket. For the occasion, she wore a linen blue suit from Gabriela Hearst and accessorized with the “Stella” lapis and moonstone earrings from Carousel Jewels.

Instead of heading to Centre Court and sitting in the Royal Box, Kate’s first stop after the Queue was on the side courts—Court 18—to watch a match between Britain’s Arthur Fery and Finland’s Otto Virtanen. She put on a pair of Ralph Lauren sunglasses to shade her eyes as she took in the tennis.

After, Kate met with children from Shine Camera Club, “a creative photography programme based within the charity SHINE Merton which supports children from disadvantaged backgrounds to develop confidence, creativity and self-expression through photography,” per Kensington Palace.

The Princess of Wales then went to watch a match on No. 1 court—watching Britain’s Katie Swan against Madison Keys of the U.S.—and sat with Scottish tennis great Andy Murray and former British player Anne Keothavong.

Kate is not the first member of the British royal family to attend Wimbledon this year: the Duke of Kent was there on the first day of the tournament, and Lady Rose Gilman, the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, attended on the second day.

“Wimbledon… was very much part of my growing up,” Kate said in a 2017 BBC documentary about the tournament. “It’s such a quintessential part of the English summer, and I think it really inspires youngsters; it inspired me when I was younger to get involved in the game.”
