When Kate Middleton made a surprise appearance at Wimbledon last week, eagle-eyed fans noted she was wearing a small microphone underneath her blazer.

The reason why the Princess of Wales was wearing the device became clear today, when Wimbledon shared footage of Kate on their social media channels as part of their “Overheard at Wimbledon” series. The clip captured the Princess sitting with Debbie Jevans, the chairwoman of the All England Lawn Tennis, and Tim Henman, a former British tennis player, as they watched British player Arthur Fery against Otto Virtanen on Court 18.
During the video, Kate speaks about her Three Peaks Challenge. “I did it in 24 hours, that was the challenge anyway. But I think part of the journey was trying to enjoy the process, the training beforehand, but also making the time during the walk, to meet people and enjoy the journey rather than just quickly getting to the top,” she told Henman as they watched the match.
Kate, the royal patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, is expected to attend the Wimbledon men’s and women’s singles finals this weekend to present the trophies. In past years, she has also brought her children Prince George and Princess Charlotte to the men’s finals.
Numerous members of the royal family have attended Wimbledon so far this year, including Queen Camilla, Peter Phillips, the Duchess of Gloucester, and the Duke of Kent, along with members of the Middleton family, including Kate’s parents Carole and Michael and sister Pippa.
