Six Macomb County girls tennis players made the cut on the 2026 Michigan High School Tennis Coaches Association All-State teams released this week.
Division 1 state runner-up Utica Eisenhower had four players – two singles players and two doubles players – while both Romeo and Macomb L’Anse Creuse North also had singles players that landed on the postseason list.
Eisenhower senior Gabriella Sadowski and sophomore Morgan Emerick were repeat selections on the Division 1 All-State First Team for one of top programs in the state during the past decade.
Emerick was the No. 2 singles state champion in Division 1 for the second straight season and finished the season a perfect 37-0. She has only one loss in two seasons.
Sadowski, a four-year starter at No. 1 singles for the Eagles, finished up a fine prep career as a four-time All-State First Team pick. Her senior season was marred by injuries, as she missed the regional and the final three weeks of May.
Sadowski, who has signed with NCAA Division I Boston University, had to bow out of her state quarterfinals match at the D-1 state finals last month at the Midland Community Tennis Center due to her nagging sprained ankle injury and could not reach the state title match. But based on her entire career resume and the fact that she only lost a handful of match over four years she is still the Division 1 Player of the Year and one of four candidates for Miss Tennis 2026.
Sadowski is joined on the short list of Miss Tennis candidates, including Mattawan’s Ana Cheng (Division 2), Chelsea’s Samantha Bieber (Division 3) and Allegan’s Addy Fales (Division 4).
Over on the Division 1 All-State Honorable Mention list, two more county players earned high postseason honors.
Macomb L’Anse Creuse North sophomore Harmonie Cain and Romeo junior Alexa Mackovski.
Cain reached the semifinals at the deep Utica Eisenhower regional and did not advance to the state finals. But her entire season-long resume helped her earn the nod.
Mackovski emerged as one of the county’s top No. 1 singles players and helped the Bulldogs placed third at the Eisenhower regional and earn enough points to advance to the state finals. Mackovski won a regional title at No. 1 singles, defeating the aforementioned Cain in the semifinals while Rochester Stoney Creek’s Alison Doka – also an All-State First Team selection – withdrawing from the finals match and Sadowski out of the lineup entirely, emerged from the heap.
Romeo ended up tying for 14th place with seven points as one of the Bulldogs’ highest state finals finishes in program history. Mackovski lost in the Round of 32 at the Division 1 state finals.

Over in the doubles flights, Eisenhower senior Alexis Gabriel and junior Kara Lu, who played No. 1 doubles this season, were one of 10 duos that earned All-State First Team Doubles honors. Which aided the duo’s ride to the All-State honor the fact that they were seeded fourth at the state finals, and they capped the season by upsetting No. 2 seeded Nainika Jast and Hannah Wanstreet of Troy in the finals by a 6-4, 6-4 decision.
It was second state title in the four-year career of Gabriel, who previously won a No. 2 doubles crown as a sophomore.
Eisenhower finished with 23 points at the Division 1 state finals, four points behind top-ranked Northville. It marked the second straight year that the Eagles finished as the state runner-up but deservedly earned four All-State players.
Elsewhere in the Macomb Area Conference but just outside of Macomb County, three MAC players earned Division 2 All-State First Team accolades – Grosse Pointe North junior Laila Aslam, Grosse Pointe South senior Katelyn Strong and Port Huron Northern senior Kate VanHowe all earned slots on the postseason list.
All three played No. 1 singles for their respective schools.
There were no All-State players from Macomb County in Division 2, Division 3 and Division 4 this season.
All of the Macomb Area Conference players also earned All-MAC honors in their respective divisions as well.
