The 2026 high school girls tennis season is set to begin on Tuesday.
The newest season will begin with the defending Finger Lakes East league champion Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders in action as they travel to play Penn Yan Academy at 4 p.m.
After Ella Eakins graduated from Pal-Mac in June, sophomores Hanna Robinson and Hannah Shoots will be a couple of players that are going to be counted on to step up this season.
Represented in the FL East in addition to Pal-Mac are Wayne Central, Geneva, Newark and Waterloo.
Sophomore Sophia McCaig from Wayne and Geneva junior Lynn Yoshikawa both aim for successful seasons this year as well.
The other two champions from the Wayne-Finger Lakes in 2025 were Harley/Allendale-Columbia and Lyons.
After capturing the FL West league championship and Section V Class C2 title a season ago, HAC has left the FL West for 2026.
Looking to step up in the FL West are Mynderse Academy, Midlakes and Marcus Whitman.
The West also includes of Penn Yan Academy, Bloomfield and Naples.
Senior Alexa Burgeson from Mynderse, senior Kenzie Turner from Midlakes and sophomore Shaylynn Christler from Marcus Whitman all look to be factors in the FL West this season.
Lyons will attempt to defend its Wayne County league title during the 2026 season.
The Lions will start their newest season on Wednesday when they travel to play Mynderse Academy at 4 p.m. in a non-league contest.
Returning this year for Lyons is last year’s No. 1 singles player, junior Megan Taylor.
It will be a Wayne County league that, in addition to Lyons, will feature Clyde-Savannah, Sodus/Williamson and North Rose-Wolcott.
Canandaigua Academy also eyes a successful year this season in the Monroe County league and will begin its 2026 campaign on Tuesday, welcoming Irondequoit at Canandaigua Middle School at 5 p.m.
Individual sectionals will be on Oct. 3 and Oct. 4 while team sectionals will run from Oct. 6-9 to start this year’s postseason action.
