Alexandra ‘Alex’ Eala had a memorable stint at the 2026 US Open, reaching the third round of the American Grand Slam for the first time before falling to good friend Iva Jovic on Saturday (Sunday, Philippine time).
She also joined in on the fun as she played against Jovic in the ‘Stars of the Open’ and competed in the mixed doubles with Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Eala has now absorbed her third career loss to the 18-year-old Jovic, who had beaten her in their past two meetings at the French Open and HSBC Championship this year.

With the win, Eala surpassed her historic run last year, advancing to the Round of 32 this year.

By beating Stoiana, Eala matched her previous US Open showing.

Mixed doubles
Round of 16 — Alex Eala and Felix Auger-Aliassime lost to Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina, 4-1, 4-1
The Filipina-Canadian tandem took the opening game in Set 1 but failed to sustain the chemistry the rest of the way, as Svitolina and Monfils completed the sweep in 39 minutes to advance to the next round.

Stars of the Open exhibition
Alex Eala fell to Iva Jovic, 6-3
The one-set exhibition, whose proceeds will benefit the USTA Foundation, also served as a tune-up for both players.
