The Ripon High School Tiger girls’ tennis team had a tough assignment last week Thursday, hosting Saint Mary’s Springs Academy in a dual.
The Tigers came up on the short end of a 7-0 score, with Springs sweeping all seven flights in straight sets.
Ripon’s best showing came at No. 3 doubles, where juniors Johnnie Blades-Purcell and Nick Heyn battled through two sets and won nine games before falling 4-6, 5-7.
The No. 1 doubles team of seniors Wren Steiner and Storm Kosinski also managed to win games in both sets. The Tigers’ duo dropped the match 2-6, 1-6.
At No. 4 singles, senior Ashna Kauffeld picked up two games in the opening set before being shut out in the second.
Sophomore Lillith Adamski and junior Mia Timmons each managed to win a game in their singles matches. Adamski fell 0-6, 1-6 at No. 2 singles, while Timmons lost 0-6, 1-6 at No. 3 singles.
Junior Millie Gales was involved in some long points at No. 1 singles but was unable to come away with a game.
Sophomore Cassandra Rivera and junior Autumn Manor also battled at No. 2 doubles but were shut out.

The Tigers were back on their home court Tuesday, hosting Sheboygan Falls in a dual that finished after press time.
Ripon will return to action Saturday at the Plymouth Quadrangular, before traveling Monday, Sept. 14 to Mayville for a dual. The Plymouth competition starts at 8:30 a.m., while the Mayville one begins at 4 p.m.
