Down 4-0 in the first set, the crowd inside Arthur Ashe tried to will Coco Gauff back to life.
One set later, they got their wish.
The American forced the second set with reigning French Open champ Mirra Andreeva into a tiebreak, which Gauff managed to take it, 7-6(7), and then put Andreeva on her heels in the deciding match to punch her ticket to the U.S. Open semifinals with a 6-2, 7-6(7), 6-2 win on Wednesday.

Gauff managed to save two match points in the second set to stave off elimination during the tiebreak, which also included an incredible 39-shot rally with Andreeva, in which she took the point to go up 5-3.
The American seemed to have found her groove in the final set, even frustrating Andreeva to the point of slamming her racket to the ground after going down 2-1.

Gauff will face Elena Rybakina in the semifinals.
