\n The Palatine Park tennis courts in Lancaster<\/p>\n
\n An official opening event will be held at refurbished public tennis courts at a park in Lancaster.\n <\/p>\n
It will take place at Palatine Recreation Ground, Palatine Avenue, in Lancaster on Sunday June 28 from 10am to noon.<\/p>\n
Local adults and children will be invited to try out the courts, with games and equipment provided.<\/p>\n
This follows significant renovations of park tennis courts within Lancaster City Council\u2019s district, with \u00a379,632 being invested between Palatine Recreation Ground and Happy Mount Park.<\/p>\n
The works were funded as part of the Parks Tennis Project, a joint investment by the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) Tennis Foundation and UK Government, delivered by the LTA, to refurbish public tennis courts across Britain and support a new generation of players to get into the sport.<\/p>\n
This investment is designed to open up tennis to people of all backgrounds, to level up sports provision across the nation, and provide greater opportunities for children and adults to be active.<\/p>\n
Park tennis courts are particularly important in providing affordable, engaging and accessible opportunities for more female players and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as being the most popular venue for women to play after they have left education.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alongside this investment, Lancaster City Council and Cartmell Tennis are working with the LTA to deliver a range of tennis activities catering for all ages and abilities. This will include Barclays Free Park Tennis sessions where equipment is supplied.<\/p>\n
The event will be attended by representatives from Lancaster City Council, community groups and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n
