The current prices are more than triple the $153,166 issue price in April 2024, and \u201calmost double the level they were trading at last year.\u201d Demand \u201chas been driven by growing rivalry\u201d between ATP No. 1 Jannik Sinner and ATP No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz, along with the \u201cexpectation that high-level sporting events will continue to become a form of luxury entertainment.\u201d Demand has \u201crisen in India and the Middle East, but remains dominated\u201d by the U.S. Debentures are a \u201cvital source of funding\u201d for the All England Lawn Tennis Club, \u201chelping pay for maintenance and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2024\/09\/30\/wimbledon-expansion-needed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2024\/09\/30\/wimbledon-expansion-needed\/\">expansion<\/a>.\u201d Proceeds are \u201cexpected to help finance a plan to add 39 courts and an 8,000-seat stadium.\u201d In return, holders get \u201cprime seats as well as access to VIP lounges and restaurants at the tournament.\u201d These are the \u201conly tradeable tickets at Wimbledon,\u201d allowing owners to sell the seats for individual days &#8212; or the whole debenture. The cheapest daily rate on Wimbledon Debenture Holders, a reseller, is\u202fcurrently\u202f$3,158 for two seats on No. 1 Court, the second arena.
