Former Wimbledon women\u2019s \u2060champion Marketa Vondrousova has been given a four-year suspension for refusing an anti-doping test in December, the International Tennis Integrity Agency said on Monday.<\/p>\n
Her suspension will end on June 21, 2030, when \u200bthe two-time Grand Slam finalist from the Czech Republic \u200cwill be \u200c30 years old.<\/p>\n
The ITIA said in a \u200bstatement that Vondrousova did not submit a sample when notified by a doping control officer during an out-of-competition test attempt \u2060at her home at around 8 p.m. on Dec.\u00a03.<\/p>\n
Vondrousova said during \u2060a hearing that stress, poor mental health and concerns for her safety had affected her decision making \u200bwhen she refused to \u2060submit a sample.<\/p>\n
However, the tribunal concluded that the evidence offered \u201cno compelling justification\u201d for the test \u2060refusal, the ITIA \u200badded.<\/p>\n
Vondrousova \u200bwrote on Instagram that she had never doped, \u200band that \u200ca dope test taken three days after the Dec. 3 incident came back negative.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have never had a positive test. Throughout my entire career, I have undergone \u200ccountless anti-doping controls and have always stepped on to the court with a clear conscience,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust three days after the incident that ultimately changed my life, I was tested again. The result \u200bwas \u200bnegative. Just like every test before it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vondrousova\u2019s \u200blawyer Jan Exner said by email that they would \u2060review the written reasons for Vondrousova\u2019s suspension before deciding their next course of action.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst, we must consult with Marketa; I do not want to speculate on further steps at \u200bthis moment,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
