Morgan Riddle did not want to just earn love in her romance with Taylor Fritz. <\/p>\n

Two months after the influencer and the tennis star\u2019s split was confirmed<\/a>, Riddle reflected on why she opted not to allow Fritz to support her financially during their six years together.<\/p>\n

\u201cEarly on in the relationship, there was a point where he was like, \u2018Well you should just quit your corporate job,\u2019\u201d Riddle shared during a June 24 appearance on the <\/a>Hot Smart Rich <\/a>podcast<\/a>. \u201cAnd I was like, \u2018I\u2019m going to do that, but I need to figure out something else to do.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Fritz, however, told her, \u201c\u2018I can just handle things.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

But that wasn\u2019t the type of partnership she was looking for.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, \u2018I don\u2019t think that\u2019s the right idea.\u2019 Because I\u2019d seen other partners on tour in that situation and you lose a sense of freedom,\u201d Riddle shared. \u201cIt was always super important to me to be independent.\u201d<\/p>\n

E! News reached out to Fritz\u2019 rep for comment but has not heard back. <\/p>\n

And while Riddle became a fixture in Fritz\u2019 box during his tennis matches, there was a lot more happening behind the scenes: \u201cI did so much without him when I was traveling on tour.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI would go to museums, I would go shopping, I\u2019d go vintage shopping,\u201d the 28-year-old recalled. \u201cI would go on girls\u2019 trips all the time. I needed my own money to go on a girls\u2019 trip to Ibiza. I wasn\u2019t gonna ask him to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The fashion influencer posited that her life wouldn\u2019t have felt as fulfilling if Fritz was the only financial contributor in their relationship. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf I hadn\u2019t been making my own money, would I have all these trips with friends?” she considered. \u201cWould I have been able to give myself these experiences and never feel guilty about it for a second because it was my money?\u201d<\/p>\n

Though Riddle admitted that she briefly did rely on Fritz financially, she didn\u2019t like the tension it caused in their romance. <\/p>\n

\u201cI knew myself and I knew in those couple weeks that I wasn\u2019t making money on tour\u2014I could see that I would start to resent him,\u201d she shared. \u201cBecause I was doing so much for him, and working so much. Like, doing the laundry and making sure he\u2019s up on time. The things you do in a partnership when you have a partner who\u2019s very, very busy and dealing with a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Riddle reasoned, \u201cFor me, I just knew that I needed something to focus on that was outside of him.\u201d<\/p>\n
