On another busy day at SW19, the favourites largely held their nerve, with Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina among the biggest names to advance.<\/p>\n
In the men\u2019s singles draw, second seed Zverev produced one of his most convincing grass-court performances as he powered past Frenchman Valentin Royer in straight sets.<\/p>\n
The German controlled proceedings from the start, using his powerful serve and aggressive baseline game to secure a 6-1, 6-3, 7-6 victory. Zverev has often spoken about his desire to make a serious Wimbledon challenge, and his latest display suggested he is becoming increasingly comfortable on the famous grass courts.<\/p>\n
American sixth seed Fritz also continued his solid campaign with a dominant victory over fellow American Patrick Kypson. Fritz, who reached the semi-finals in 2025, looked sharp throughout as he recorded a 6-2, 6-2, 7-5 win to move safely into the next round.<\/p>\n
There was also success for former Wimbledon runner-up Matteo Berrettini, with the Italian showing his grass-court pedigree in a tough battle against French star Arthur Fils. Berrettini\u2019s big serve and powerful forehand proved decisive as he claimed a 6-4, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 victory.<\/p>\n
Grigor Dimitrov was another player who enjoyed a memorable day, as the Bulgarian veteran defeated rising Czech talent Jakub Mensik 7-6, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 to advance into the next round.<\/p>\n
In the women\u2019s draw, defending champion Iga Swiatek delivered a statement as she swept past former world number one Karolina Pliskova.<\/p>\n
The Polish star was in ruthless form, controlling the match with her consistency, movement and clever use of spin to record an impressive 6-1, 6-3 win. After being tested earlier in the tournament, Swiatek looked much closer to her best as she continued her title defence.<\/p>\n
The 2022 champion Elena Rybakina also sent a strong warning to the rest of the field with a commanding performance on Centre Court. The Australian Open champion needed little time to defeat American Caty McNally 6-1, 6-2 as she continued her push for another Grand Slam title.<\/p>\n
The sixth-seeded Amanda Anisimova survived one of the day\u2019s tougher battles, fighting back to beat Sofia Kenin in an all-American clash. Anisimova showed great composure under pressure, especially in the deciding moments, to keep her campaign alive.<\/p>\n
Former Australian Open champion, Madison Keys, also progressed after ending British hopes in the women\u2019s singles by beating Katie Swan, while several other seeded players kept their Wimbledon dreams alive.<\/p>\n
Former world number one Novak Djokovic returns to Centre Court on Friday when he faces Arthur Rinderknech, while world number one Jannik Sinner faces a tricky test against Jenson Brooksby. Coco Gauff will look to continue her title charge, while Aryna Sabalenka with take on Jelena Ostapenko and Naomi Osaka faces Daria Kasatkina.<\/p>\n
