And yet, at one point in time, he almost became a skier. You can lose points but you can still win the match,&#8221; Jannik told <a data-ylk=\"slk:Vogue;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/article\/profile-jannik-sinner-june-2024\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vogue<\/a> in 2024. &#8220;In skiing, if you make one mistake, one big mistake, you cannot win.&#8221; But at the tender age of 13, he made the decision to leave the mountains and head for the Italian Riviera to enroll in a rigorous tennis academy. Jannik&#8217;s parents are also at his matches frequently, although his mother sometimes avoids them, only out of anxiety for her son. During the Italian Open in Rome in May, a reporter from <a data-ylk=\"slk:Gazzetta;elm:affiliate_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;elmt:premonetized;pkgt:horizontal-editorial;subsec:commlist;\" href=\"https:\/\/go.redirectingat.com?id=74968X1788647&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gazzetta.it%2FTennis%2FATP%2F16-05-2025%2Fla-mamma-di-siner-lascia-il-centrale-dopo-il-primo-set-faccio-un-giro-aspetto-finisca.shtml&amp;sref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.townandcountrymag.com%2Fleisure%2Fsporting%2Fa65356867%2Fwho-are-jannik-sinner-parents-johann-siglind%2F\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Gazzetta<\/a> found Siglinde outside. Jannik had lost the first set to American <a data-ylk=\"slk:Tommy Paul;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.townandcountrymag.com\/leisure\/sporting\/a42677095\/tommy-paul-tennis-player-facts\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Tommy Paul<\/a>. &#8220;I left at the end of the first set. I&#8217;ll take a stroll around here and wait for the match to end. I never watch Jannik&#8217;s entire matches live; it rarely happens,&#8221; she told the Italian publication. &#8220;I prefer to stay in front of the TV. Only in Turin did I manage to watch the final and a bit of the previous rounds. The family now runs their own guest house, Haus Sinner, where Johann helps out in the restaurant when not on the tour with his son. &#8220;So they are always working and that&#8217;s what I love about them,&#8221; <a data-ylk=\"slk:Sinner told reporters in 2024;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/jannik-sinner-italy-australian-open-87587c64a77cc820479120ce91db8a4c\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Sinner told reporters in 2024<\/a>. &#8220;They&#8217;re not changing anything with me. He was in his <a data-ylk=\"slk:son&#039;s player&#039;s box;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.townandcountrymag.com\/leisure\/sporting\/a65371562\/who-sits-in-jannik-sinner-players-box-coaches-family\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">son&#8217;s player&#8217;s box<\/a> when Jannik <a data-ylk=\"slk:won his first Wimbledon title;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.townandcountrymag.com\/leisure\/sporting\/a65390989\/jannik-sinner-wimbledon-win-2025-history\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">won his first Wimbledon title<\/a> in London in July.<\/p>\n<p>But the end of summer, which coincides with the final Grand Slam of the year, the U.S. Open, also happens to be the last few weeks of the tourist season in the Dolomites, so Johann is back at work.
