{"id":39947,"date":"2026-07-14T00:06:40","date_gmt":"2026-07-14T00:06:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/tennis\/39947\/"},"modified":"2026-07-14T00:06:40","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T00:06:40","slug":"womens-tennis-named-ita-all-academic-team-five-named-scholar-athletes-womens-tennis-georgia-tech-yellow-jackets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/tennis\/39947\/","title":{"rendered":"Women\u2019s Tennis Named ITA All-Academic Team; Five Named Scholar-Athletes \u2013 Women&#8217;s Tennis \u2014 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>THE FLATS\u202f\u2013\u00a0Five Georgia Tech women\u2019s tennis student-athletes were named 2026 ITA Scholar-Athletes\u00a0Monday, with the program earning an All-Academic Team honor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Yellow Jackets\u2019 3.53 team GPA earned the program\u2019s 12th\u00a0ITA All-Academic Team\u00a0award\u00a0and seventh-straight under head coach\u00a0Rodney Harmon.\u00a0Olivia Carneiro, Alejandra Cruz, Sabritt Dozier, Taly Licht\u00a0and\u00a0Given Roach\u00a0were\u00a0awarded the ITA Scholar-Athlete honor.\u00a0All five\u00a0student-athletes\u00a0were also named to the ACC All-Academic Team.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Carneiro won eight singles matches this season and five in\u00a0doubles\u00a0action.\u00a0She won the first three doubles matches of the spring while teamed with Licht, defeating squads from LSU, Iowa State and Ole Miss. In the spring, she picked up two-set victories in singles competition against foes from Georgia State, Chattanooga, Jacksonville State and Kennesaw State.\u00a0Carneiro\u00a0earns her second-straight ITA Scholar-Athlete honor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cruz, a member of the 2026 All-ACC Third Team, was a court one mainstay for the Jackets this season where she finished 13-7 in singles action. She was ranked in every ITA ranking of the spring, soaring as high as No. 47. She started off the season 4-0\u00a0with victories over No. 7 Aysegul Mert (Georgia) and No. 15 DJ Bennett (Auburn).\u00a0This marks Cruz\u2019s second ITA Scholar-Athlete award.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dozier earned 11 singles wins and\u00a012 in\u00a0doubles this season. The\u00a0freshman\u00a0started off the fall with three singles victories over opponents from Kentucky, Wake\u00a0Forest\u00a0and Furman. Teamed with Licht, the duo\u00a0posted a 7-3 record in doubles action from Feb. 20 through March 27.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Licht went 14-11 this season in singles\u00a0action\u00a0including a 10-8 record on court two this spring. She ended the spring with back-to-back\u00a0wins\u00a0including an impressive rally against Florida State in the ACC Tournament.\u00a0In decisions on home court this spring, she posted a 7-1 record with just three unfinished matches.\u00a0This is Licht\u2019s second-straight\u00a0ITA Scholar-Athlete award.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Roach posted a 12-8 record this\u00a0season\u00a0including seven wins in the spring. She shined in ACC doubles action, securing an 8-5 record.\u00a0Teamed\u00a0with\u00a0Eleni Karantali,\u00a0the duo won 10 of 12 decisions\u00a0from Feb. 1 to March 22.\u00a0She only lost one singles match on\u00a0home\u00a0court this spring in 13 contests.\u00a0The honor marks the\u00a0second-straight ITA All-Academic honor for Roach.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cruz,\u00a0Licht\u00a0and Roach were all named to the 2026 CSC Academic All-District Team in May.\u00a02026 marks the\u00a0sixth-straight year Georgia Tech women\u2019s tennis has\u00a0had at least five named ITA Scholar-Athletes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Full Steam Ahead\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Full Steam Ahead is a $500 million fundraising initiative to achieve Georgia Tech athletics\u2019 goal of competing for championships at the highest level in the next era of intercollegiate athletics. The initiative will fund transformative projects for Tech athletics,\u00a0including renovations of Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field (the historic home of Georgia Tech football), the\u00a0Zelnak\u00a0Basketball Center (the practice and training facility for Tech basketball) and O\u2019Keefe Gymnasium (the venerable home of Yellow Jackets volleyball), as well as additional projects and initiatives to further advance Georgia Tech athletics through program wide-operational support.
