Last week, ESPN national NFL reporter Lindsey Thiry<\/a> was blindsided by what can only be described as a mutant wasp<\/a> while reporting from Los Angeles Rams training camp on\u00a0NFL Live. Apparently, it\u2019s an epidemic. A ladybug ambushed Danielle Collins<\/a> during Tennis Channel\u2019s TC Live broadcast from the National Bank Open in Montreal on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Collins began hunching over the desk and laughing hysterically. \u201cI don\u2019t know where it went,\u201d Collins said. Simultaneously, she pulled her hair back to reveal the ladybug perched just above her eyebrow. \u201cAhhhhhhhhhh!\u201d Collins screamed as soon as she saw it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a ladybug, so it\u2019s good luck,\u201d Steve Weissman said off-camera. \u201cLook, it\u2019s a ladybug. That means\u00a0TC Live\u00a0is gonna be so great.\u201d<\/p>\n

The camera panned to the ladybug on Steve Johnson\u2019s pinky finger, while Collins continued to cackle. \u201cI thought it was, like, a spider or something,\u201d Collins said. \u201cI couldn\u2019t see it because it was on my eye, but thank god, it was a friendly little thing. Alright, make a wish!\u201d<\/p>\n

Collins has been a mainstay on the Tennis Channel in 2026 after stepping away from playing tennis to heal from a back injury and freeze her eggs.<\/p>\n

\u201cWanted to come on here and give everyone a little update since everyone has been asking!\u201d Collins captioned an Instagram carousel<\/a> last December. \u201cI\u2019ve been taking the last few months off to recover from the back injury I had at the end of the season. I\u2019ve also been undergoing a few egg freezing procedures. It\u2019s been one of the coolest things I\u2019ve honestly ever done! But at the same time these hormones I have had to be on are a real b****.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so fortunate for the friends that have been helping take care of me during this time [white heart emoji]. I have one more procedure to go. With all of this, I will not be competing during the first part of the year. But you will be seeing me in a different capacity with @tennischannel. This is all I will be sharing for now. More updates to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Collins turned pro and joined the WTA Tour in 2016, and she has won four singles titles, coming her closest to winning a Grand Slam when she lost to Ashleigh Barty in the 2022 Australian Open final. Collins announced her tennis retirement<\/a> in 2024, but before the year\u2019s end, she reversed her decision<\/a> and decided to play in 2025. She last played at the 2025 US Open. Whenever Collins does decide to retire for good, it\u2019s clear she\u2019ll have a home at Tennis Channel.<\/p>\n
