CINCINNATI, USA \u2013 Arthur Fery has won his first ever Masters 1000 match after defeating James Duckworth and will now face Alex De Minaur in the third round.<\/p>\n

Arthur Fery <\/a>is into the third round of Cincinnati after winning a last set tiebreak against James Duckworth<\/a>. The win was Fery\u2019s first at Masters 1000 level and the Brit started this big contest with a break of serve. The perfect start. That didn\u2019t last long though as the experienced Duckworth broke immediately back with some aggressive tennis of his own. The Brit had to survive a huge test of his character as he was under consistent pressure but did well to save a break point in the fourth game.<\/p>\n That seemed to spark Fery\u2019s game into life as his confident hitting from the baseline mixed with delightful variety. The Brit broke serve in the ninth game and had the chance to serve for the opening set. Although that sounds easy it was much more difficult on paper as he had to save break point and it took Fery three set points before he could seal the opening set in 50 minutes.<\/p>\n In the second set Duckworth was more proactive and aggressive on return, not allowing Fery time to construct the points he wanted. There was some good serving from Fery but ultimately he struggled to carve out any opportunities on return. Two breaks of serve in the second and eighth games was enough for Duckworth as he levelled the match at one set all.<\/p>\n The final set saw a lot of long games but not enough opportunities to being created. The only chance of the deciding set saw a break point for Fery in the seventh game but there was good serving from Duckworth as this final set went to a tiebreak.
