As well as being a private members\u2019 club, run in all-too-traditional style by its committee, the AELTC is also a sizeable business with an annual turnover that stands well in excess of \u00a3400m.<\/p>\n<p>The search for a heavy hitter will soon be underway, and we can expect the club to throw its net wide: not only through tennis but also other sports and even into the wider business world.<\/p>\n<p>The priority, when the new man or woman is identified, will be to put the club back on the front foot for the first time in several years. What is the vision for the next decade? How will Wimbledon approach the conundrum of its outdated qualifying week? What is its stance on the big issues of the international game?<\/p>\n<p>With the exception of electronic line calling and some upgrades to the players\u2019 areas, not a great deal has evolved at Wimbledon since December 2018: the moment when Brook decided to sink \u00a365m into buying the freehold of Wimbledon Park Golf Course.<\/p>\n<p>All the ensuing conversation has surrounded the muddy and exhausting battle with local objectors over getting the development done.
