{"id":55146,"date":"2026-08-21T20:28:24","date_gmt":"2026-08-21T20:28:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/tennis\/55146\/"},"modified":"2026-08-21T20:28:24","modified_gmt":"2026-08-21T20:28:24","slug":"eisenhower-topples-field-at-own-tennis-invitational-macomb-daily","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/tennis\/55146\/","title":{"rendered":"Eisenhower topples field at own tennis invitational \u2013 Macomb Daily"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Utica Eisenhower had a solid boys tennis season last fall.<\/p>\n<p>The Eagles were third in a competitive Macomb Area Conference Red Division and fifth at a deep regional in which the Eagles hosted last October.<\/p>\n<p>This year, Eisenhower would love nothing more than to take a leap forward.<\/p>\n<p>The Eagles showcased some depth Thursday at the Eisenhower Invitational, topping the eight-school field with 23 points and winning seven of the eight flights on the day. Eisenhower was in midseason form even though the season is less than two weeks old.<\/p>\n<p>Clinton Township Chippewa Valley was second with 16 points, while Utica Ford (14), Wyandotte (11), Fraser (11), Almont (8), Macomb Dakota (8) and Warren Mott (2) rounded out the field.<\/p>\n<p>Dakota\u2019s Zac Clouse defeated Wyandotte\u2019s Carson Haley in straight set (6-0, 6-0) to claim the No. 1 singles title. That was the only flight that Eisenhower didn\u2019t win on the day but had a competitor finish third.\n<\/p>\n<p>Eisenhower came back and had three champions in the singles flight and swept all four doubles flights to win the tournament by seven points over runner-up Chippewa Valley, which had four runner-up finishes on the day.<\/p>\n<p>Eisenhower\u2019s Eli Layson defeated Chippewa Valley\u2019s Zach Ulmer in three sets (6-4, 4-6, 6-3) to earn the No. 2 singles crown.<\/p>\n<p>The Eagles saw Angelo Restauri win the No. 3 singles flight as he swept Utica Ford\u2019s Nolan Cybulski (6-0, 6-1) in the finals, while Eisenhower teammate Achilles Coutinho swept Chippewa Valley\u2019s Nick Ivanov (6-1, 6-2) in the No. 4 singles flight finals.<\/p>\n<p>The doubles flights were all claimed by host Eisenhower.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel Palushaj and Michael Crandall teamed up at No. 1 doubles to go 3-0 on the day, including a 6-1, 6-1 sweep of Utica Ford\u2019s Austin Ruzzin and Riley Haysmer.<\/p>\n<p>At No 2 doubles, Noor Al-Bermani and Gio Kaktoma posted a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Chippewa Valley\u2019s Ryder Degraw and Evan Kler in the finale.<\/p>\n<p>Eisenhower\u2019s Jayden Yoo and Luka Bozhinovski posted a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Chippewa Valley\u2019s Nathan Boehlig and Adam Chrominski in the No. 3 doubles finals, while the Eagles\u2019 siblings duo of Colton Colburn and Mason Colburn took down Almont\u2019s Trevor Clark and Chanhee Lee by a 6-1, 6-1 count in the No. 4 doubles finals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Utica Eisenhower had a solid boys tennis season last fall.
