{"id":55776,"date":"2026-08-23T01:03:07","date_gmt":"2026-08-23T01:03:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/tennis\/55776\/"},"modified":"2026-08-23T01:03:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-23T01:03:07","slug":"mitchell-tennis-splits-dual-matchups-in-sioux-falls-mitchell-republic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/tennis\/55776\/","title":{"rendered":"Mitchell tennis splits dual matchups in Sioux Falls &#8211; Mitchell Republic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SIOUX FALLS \u2014 Mitchell girls tennis capped a busy week of tennis duals with two contests on Saturday, falling to Sioux Falls O\u2019Gorman in the morning before rallying to defeat Sioux Falls Roosevelt later in the day.<\/p>\n<p>The Knights won the team matchup with Mitchell 7-2, while the Kernels topped Roosevelt 9-0. It was Mitchell\u2019s fourth and fifth duals of the week after competing in a triangular on Monday and a road dual at Harrisburg on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Gorman won five of the six singles matches on the day, with Taryn Bultje providing Mitchell with its only singles win at Flight 6, a 6-2, 5-7, 10-4 win over Charlotte Kayser. Charlee Cimpl narrowly lost to Hadley Garry at Flight 5 (6-3, 1-6, 10-6), while Katie Morgan battled O\u2019Gorman No. 1 Lucy Koziara but fell 7-5, 6-3.<\/p>\n<p>Cimpl and Bultje teamed up well to win 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 doubles for the Kernels. Koziara and Jude Houck took down Mitchell\u2019s No. 1 doubles pair 6-4, 6-3, as the Knights won the Flight 1 and Flight 2 doubles contests.<\/p>\n<p>Against Roosevelt, the Kernels had no issues. Katie Morgan picked up the hard-fought win at No. 1 singles by a score of 3-6, 6-1, 10-7 over the Rough Riders\u2019 Abigail Paulsen. Mia Larson won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Elliot Smith had a clean sweep 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles to power the Kernels to the win.<\/p>\n<p>All three doubles matches were sweeps, including Morgan and Prunty winning 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.
