He\u2019s just shut Alex down every time he\u2019s had opportunities,\u201d Jelena Dokic said on Channel 9.<\/p>\n<p>The defeat will be a bitter pill to swallow for de Minaur, who made the third round at the French Open and <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.news.com.au\/sport\/tennis\/huge-disappointment-alex-de-minaur-knocked-out-of-wimbledon-misses-golden-chance\/news-story\/fc95a94864f81a10e4edd884a2159959\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"www.news.com.au\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"fc95a94864f81a10e4edd884a2159959\" data-tgev-label=\"sport\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">opened up about his mental demons after losing in the fourth round at Wimbledon<\/a> and squandered a chance to go beyond the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n<p>Tristan Schoolkate was defeated by Italy\u2019s Flavio Cobolli 3-6 6-3 6-4 7-5, and Alexei Popyrin also lost in four sets to Chile\u2019s Alejandro Tabilo 2-6 7-6 7-6 6-2. <\/p>\n<p>Fellow top 10 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime was also knocked out by Karen Khachanov 6-7 6-3 6-2 6-2.<\/p>\n<p>7.10am &#8211; Aussie score huge upset, 400k payday<\/p>\n<p>Four Australian men were in second round action at the US Open on Friday but only Dane Sweeny made it into the third round after he pulled off a shock victory over Italian Lorenzo Musetti. <\/p>\n<p>Musetti missed Wimbledon with a thigh injury and appeared to be significantly hampered by an injury on court 17 at Flushing Meadows on Friday (AEST), calling for the physio and going off court for a medical time-out. <\/p>\n<p>The 13th seed took the first set 6-3 but it was all Sweeny after that as the Aussie, who stands 170cm tall, closing out the match 6-1 6-2 6-2 to reach the third round of a grand slam for the first time in his career. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe biggest win of his life,\u201d the commentator proclaimed.<\/p>\n<p>The highlight of the match came in the second set when Sweeny dove for a forehand volley and nailed the winner while suspended horizontally in the air.<\/p>\n<p>Watch Dane Sweeny\u2019s acrobatic volley in the video above<\/p>\n<p>Veteran tennis writer Christopher Clarey said: \u201cLoving Aussie Dane Sweeny doing his Boris Becker thing at the #USOpen. Just hit a diving forehand volley winner on his way to breaking Lorenzo Musetti early in the 2d set<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDoubt that diving on hardcourts is sustainable but happy to watch him try!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The US Open\u2019s social media account posted: \u201cIs it a bird? Is it a plane? It\u2019s SUPER DANE! \u200d\ufe0f<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSweeny goes airborne to pull off a ridiculous diving volley!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m so grateful to be even able to compete in grand slams,\u201d Sweeney said after the victory. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve put a lot of work in. Tennis journey is such a rollercoaster. I\u2019m so grateful to be able to play in front of this crowd.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By making the third round in New York, Sweeny will pocket $290,000 (A$402,000) in prize money for his efforts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnbelievable,\u201d Jelena Dokic said on Channel 9. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was the way that he played. The court coverage in this match to extend rallies, to push the points to be physical, was absolutely phenmenal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musetti has endured a horrid run with injury this year. The Italian was up two sets to love against Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open before being forced to retire due to injury. <\/p>\n<p>Sweeny is ranked 123rd in the world but has a solid year on tour, which began with the 25-year-old reaching the second round of the Australian Open. <\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s draw, Coco Gauff defeated Paula Badosa 6-4 7-5 in a high quality encounter, and
