Top seed Alexander Zverev eased into the fourth round of the US Open 2026 men\u2019s singles with a straight-set win over Alejandro Tabilo on Saturday to keep up his bid for a second Grand Slam title.<\/p>\n
After back-to-back five-setters against Lorenzo \u200cSonego and Quentin Halys, Zverev finally enjoyed a more straightforward night as he overcame a small mid-match dip to see off Chilean Tabilo 6-2, 7-6(2), 6-2.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think today was definitely much better than the last couple of \u200cdays. I think I improved a lot from the baseline,\u201d Zverev said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wasn\u2019t happy with the second set. I think, especially at the end of the second set, I lost focus a little bit. I was not moving \u200cas well. I was not playing as well. But I think the first and third sets are a big \u200cimprovement over the other days. I\u2019ll try to focus on that.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 29-year-old, who won his maiden Grand Slam title at the French Open earlier in the year, stormed out of the blocks by breaking Tabilo twice.<\/p>\n
Zverev \u200braced to a 4-2 lead in the second set but before he conceded three games in a row. However, the Chilean was unable to press home the advantage.<\/p>\n
Zverev raced ahead 5-2 in the third set, ending any hopes of a Tabilo comeback, booking his place in the round of 16, where he will face Italian Luciano Darderi \u200bawaits.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Learner \u200bTien enthralled the home crowd with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-4 win over Czech Jakub Mensik.<\/p>\n
