REUTERS<\/p>\n<p>The 25-year-old developed the knee injury after the grass court tournament \u2014 one that he had not yet had this year or in his career.<\/p>\n<p>The five-time Grand Slam winner pulled out of the Cincinnati tune-up tournament and later announced his absence from the U.S. Open.<\/p>\n<p>Sinner was not at the race alone, however. <\/p>\n<p>He enjoyed the race with fellow Italian tennis player Matteo Berrettini, who exited the year\u2019s final Grand Slam in the second round after suffering a four-set defeat to Argentina\u2019s Mariano Navone.<\/p>\n<p>Tennis player Jannik Sinner arrives in the Paddock at Autodromo Nazionale Monza ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Italy on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, in Monza, Italy. Anadolu via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The two were seen posing for a photo with Korean-born DJ, producer and singer Peggy Gou at the event.<\/p>\n<p>Sinner and Berrettini witnessed another momentous moment for Italy.<\/p>\n<p>They watched Kimi Antonelli become the first home winner at the event since 1966.<\/p>\n<p>Antonelli ended what was a 60-year drought after coming back from 19th on the starting grid. <\/p>\n<p>The 20-year-old has also provided the same support to Sinner, specifically on his run to a second consecutive win at the Nitto ATP Finals.<\/p>\n<p>After the race, Sinner made sure to reach out to Antonelli. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongratulazioni Kimi!\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/janniksin\/status\/2096636133153165575\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">he wrote on X<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Jannik Sinner of Italy celebrates a point against Alexander Zverev of Germany in the men\u2019s singles final at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in London on Sunday, July 12, 2026. AP Photo\/Kirsty Wigglesworth<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the race, Sinner was asked by a Sky Sports reporter if he had spoken to Antonelli and if he was in \u201cgood form.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he has a good chance to go very far,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Kookytokine\/status\/2096584292025368597\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">he said<\/a>. \u201cHe has the engine. He has the car.
