Coco Gauff booked her spot in the 2026 US Open quarterfinals by scoring a 6-1, 6-4 win<\/a> against Iva Jovic in Monday’s Gauff vs Jovic showdown.<\/p>\n

The No. 4 seed needed just an hour and 33 minutes to handle the 18-year-old at Flushing Meadows<\/a>, returning to the final eight for the first time since winning the title<\/a> in 2023.<\/p>\n

Coco Gauff Handles Iva Jovic in Straight Sets in Round of 16<\/p>\n

Jovic made things interesting early on, breaking Gauff’s serve in the opening game. But the 22-year-old<\/a> quickly recovered, stealing the next six games to run away with the opener. She finished with 18 winners and just 15 unforced errors to Jovic’s 30.<\/p>\n

The second set proved tighter, but Gauff earned the decisive break in the sixth game and won three straight to close it out.<\/p>\n

“Iva’s an incredible player, an incredible talent<\/a>, she plays beyond her years,” Gauff said after the win. “I’m sure we’ll be playing a lot more matches in the future.”<\/p>\n

For Jovic, the No. 14 seed, reaching the second week was a career-best Grand Slam result. She dispatched friend and Filipina phenom Alex Eala<\/a> to meet Gauff in the Round of 16. But she couldn’t match the two-time Grand Slam winner’s<\/a> level on Arthur Ashe. <\/p>\n

Gauff now rides a 10-match winning streak. She also hasn’t dropped a set through four rounds in Queens.<\/p>\n
