She’s recently been in New York playing in the US Open, but where does Naomi Osaka live when she’s not on the court? The Japanese tennis pro was born in Osaka, but moved to the Big Apple<\/a> at age three, when she began her tennis training. Though her family moved to Florida just a few years later, Osaka recalled fond memories of her early days in NYC in a 2018 interview<\/a>. “New York is very nostalgic,” the athlete, then living in Fort Lauderdale, said. “When I come [to New York], I always have memories of when I was a kid. Sometimes I walk down the streets I walked down when I was a little kid\u2026. Every time I come here, I’m very happy.” That year, Osaka won her first major title when she defeated Serena Williams<\/a> at the US Open. The singles champion’s star continued to rise from there. In 2019, she was ranked number one in the world by the Women’s Tennis Association, and in 2020, the then-22-year-old earned $37.4 million, breaking the record<\/a> for the highest-paid female athlete in history.<\/p>\n

The following year, Osaka gave back to the city where she began her tennis journey, serving as a creative and practical advisor to refurbish five tennis courts in Jamaica, Queens, where she learned how to play. “As a traveling athlete, the place that always feels like home is Queens and these courts,” she told the New York Times<\/a>. “[My sister] Mari and I spent so much time here as kids, so many hours on these courts, practicing, and we really feel a connection to not only the courts but the area and the community.”<\/p>\n

Despite those strong ties, Osaka chose to begin building her real estate portfolio on the West Coast, where she has bought and sold two Los Angeles-area homes\u2014both with celebrity sellers. It’s unclear where the tennis star lives now, but read on to learn what we know about her past pads.<\/p>\n

Midcentury Beverly Hills retreat<\/p>\n

Osaka had a landmark year in 2019, when she won the Australian Open, garnering the number one ranking in women’s singles\u2014the first Asian player to do so\u2014for a straight 25 weeks. That same year, she began her first known foray into real estate, paying Nick Jonas $6.91 million<\/a> for his renovated midcentury house in Los Angeles, which he had bought just a year prior<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At 4,100 square feet, the gated dwelling was originally built in 1965 but reimagined and modernized in 2015. Featuring a classic, flat-roofed midcentury-modern profile, the home had five bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths. Walls of glass slid open for indoor-outdoor living, uniting many of the home’s living spaces with the backyard. Outside, there was a long, rectangular infinity pool and spa, a cantilevered guesthouse, and a wooden pool deck jutting out over the mountainside. Light oak floors, Machiche wood wall paneling, and an open-plan living and dining room with a hematite fireplace were some of the dwelling’s sumptuous design details. The kitchen was equally impressive, with high-end appliances, an island with a breakfast bar, and minimalist cabinetry, sans hardware. Meanwhile, the primary suite boasted backyard access and a soaking tub looking out at a small, private courtyard enclosed by gates and greenery.<\/p>\n

Osaka sold the luxe pad in 2022<\/a> to tech entrepreneur Milun Tesovic in an off-market deal for $8.7 million. Around that time, Osaka was seen<\/a> touring luxury condos in New York City, but it’s unknown if she ended up buying property there. One of the buildings she reportedly toured was Olympia<\/a>, a 33-story tower in Dumbo, Brooklyn, which has a connection to another Jonas Brother: Joe Jonas is currently trying to sell<\/a> his unit in the building for $6.75 million.<\/p>\n

Tarzana mansion<\/p>\n

Shortly before selling her house in Beverly Hills, Osaka picked up a new LA-area property that also came with a celebrity connection. The athlete paid $6.3 million<\/a> for a Tarzana, California, home owned by Love Is Blind hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey. The Cape Cod-style dwelling was built in 2014 and had five bedrooms, six full bathrooms, and three half-baths across 6,855 square feet. At the heart of the home, a welcoming, cream-colored kitchen featured dark wood floors, high-end stainless steel appliances, and two sprawling center islands, one of which had a breakfast bar long enough to seat five. Although luxe, the home had an air of coziness, \u00e0 la a Nancy Meyers film set<\/a>. Coffered ceilings crowned a nearby family room with a fireplace, built-ins, and fold-away glass doors leading to the resort-style grounds, which hosted a swimming pool and spa, a fire pit, a barbecue kitchen, and a basketball court. Other highlights included a billiards room with a bar; a primary suite with a vaulted ceiling, a private balcony, a fireplace, a spacious bathroom with a white marble vanity; and a separate gym and wellness center, which Osaka added during her three-year tenure at the property.<\/p>\n

In 2025, Osaka sold the property<\/a> back to Nick and Vanessa Lachey for $7.95 million. The couple had sold the home to Osaka when they moved to Honolulu, where Vanessa was filming NCIS: Hawai’i. After three seasons, the show was canceled. Coincidentally, it was around the time Osaka was ready to move on from the home, allowing the Lacheys to reclaim their former digs.<\/p>\n
