DES MOINES, Iowa — Just hours after President Donald Trump’s visit to Iowa, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and former Iowa Gov. and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack joined Rob Sand on stage for a rally in Des Moines.
“I’ve seen the polls, you’ve seen the polls, they look great,” Sand said. “They’ve been wrong before. We’re not gonna take it for granted. We cannot take it for granted. We have come too far. The alternative is four more years of one party control,” Sand said.
Beshear, is a potential 2028 presidential contender and also the chair of the Democratic Governors Association.
“Are you ready to flip the U.S. House,” Beshear said. “Are you ready to flip the U.S. Senate. Are you ready to win this governor’s race. And after we do all that, in 2028, are you ready for a Democratic president.”
Beshear said the Democratic Governors Association is “all in” on Sand, with the group spending more than $10 million to get him elected.
Vilsack said an Iowa vote for Sand would send a message nationally about the kind of campaigns voters want.
“Where people talk about the issues, where people are not tearing other folks down but lifting everyone up. Where we talk about campaign’s that are about compassion, about transparency, about avoiding corruption,” Vilsack said.
Sand’s Republican opponent Zach Lahn was in Dubuque Sunday night, campaigning alongside President Trump.
