Good morning!

Just when you think you only see this kind of breaking stories during national news broadcasts or if it only happens at other universities, it happened here in Laramie at the University of Wyoming.

Today’s newsletter begins with a shocking development. According to the Associated Press, a microbiology graduate student from China was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on accusations she poisoned the tea of a colleague who had pending patents for a new cancer treatment, then tried to flee the country with pictures of his notes and research.

In other news, our colleagues at the Wyoming Tribune Eagle cover how the developers for the Laramie Range Wind Project near Cheyenne have withdrawn county applications amid permitting concerns. The developers, Repsol Renewables North America, are the same that are overseeing the Rail Tie Wind Project, another large project south of Laramie.

Also, WyoFile reports that following the disputes during the primary election, the U.S. Department of Justice says it will “have presence” in Wyoming during the general election in November.

In Sports, Adam Engel covers how tonight’s Autism Awareness Match when UW hosts Hawaii will have special meaning for junior outside hitter Addy Thorington. Alex Taylor features tight end Isaac Schoenfeld, who is looking to finish his career strong at Wyoming.

Be careful out there during our first snow of the season. Personally, I welcome the layer of white after little to no snowpack last winter.

Have a great day, and enjoy the reading!
