{"id":11772,"date":"2026-06-01T16:28:18","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T16:28:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/turkiye\/11772\/"},"modified":"2026-06-01T16:28:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T16:28:18","slug":"turkiyes-botas-inks-new-deal-to-supply-gas-from-azerbaijans-absheron","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/turkiye\/11772\/","title":{"rendered":"T\u00fcrkiye&#8217;s BOTA\u015e inks new deal to supply gas from Azerbaijan&#8217;s Absheron"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>T\u00fcrkiye&#8217;s state-run energy company BOTA\u015e, Azerbaijan&#8217;s SOCAR, TotalEnergies and ADNOC have signed a \u200bnatural gas sales and purchase agreement \u200cfor gas to be produced from Azerbaijan&#8217;s Absheron field.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement covers supplying T\u00fcrkiye with a total of 33 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas from Azerbaijan over 15 years, starting in 2029, according to the statement from the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The step supports T\u00fcrkiye&#8217;s vision of becoming a central country in energy and aims to contribute to the energy supply security of the country, the region, and Europe, it added.<\/p>\n<p>The deal was signed on \u200bthe sidelines of Baku Energy Week, \u200bby SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf, BOTA\u015e \u2060Chairperson and General Manager Abdulvahit \u200bFidan, TotalEnergies senior vice president for exploration \u200band production Europe Martino Panizzi, and Mohammed Al Aryani, President International Gas at XRG.<\/p>\n<p>A final \u200binvestment decision for the second \u200bphase of the Absheron project is expected this year. \u200cAnnual \u2060gas production is expected to begin in 2029 and reach above 4 billion cubic metres, according to a Reuters report.<\/p>\n<p>Around half of the production \u200bis expected \u200bto \u2060be supplied to the Turkish market under the agreement, a \u200bSOCAR official said.<\/p>\n<p>The Absheron field \u200bis \u2060one of Azerbaijan&#8217;s largest gas-condensate fields.
