T\u00fcrkiye<\/a> has appointed new ambassadors<\/a> to nine countries, including Iran<\/a>, Qatar, Jordan and Kuwait, according to a decree signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan and published early Aug. 18.<\/p>\n

Ahmet Ayd\u0131n Do\u011fan was appointed as T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s ambassador to Iran. Do\u011fan previously served as ambassador to Morocco and as head of the Foreign Relations and Protocol Department at the Turkish parliament.<\/p>\n

Yakup Caymazo\u011flu, currently T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s ambassador to Jordan, was appointed ambassador to Qatar, while Hakan Kara\u00e7ay, deputy director general for the Middle East at the Foreign Ministry, was named ambassador to Jordan.<\/p>\n

Can O\u011fuz, deputy director general at the ministry for Eastern Europe, was appointed ambassador to Kuwait.<\/p>\n

The decree also includes ambassadorial appointments to Moldova, Djibouti, Estonia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Botswana.<\/p>\n

The appointments to Iran and the three Gulf<\/a> states came as a 60-day cease-fire between Iran and Washington expired on Aug. 17 amid the ongoing regional conflict.
