Israel\u2019s Prime Minister\u2019s Office has launched a fierce attack on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan, accusing him of pursuing an increasingly confrontational policy toward Israel and seeking to extend Turkey\u2019s influence into Syria.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the Prime Minister\u2019s Office described Erdo\u011fan as an \u201cantisemitic dictator\u201d and accused him of a range of actions, including the persecution of Kurds, harboring Hamas members and supporting policies that Israel considers hostile.<\/p>\n
The statement also criticised Turkey\u2019s role in Cyprus, accusing Ankara of occupying the northern part of the island, while pointing to what it described as the jailing of large numbers of journalists and political opponents in Turkey.<\/p>\n
According to the Israeli government, Erdo\u011fan is now attempting to extend what it called his \u201caggression against Israel\u201d into Syria.<\/p>\n
\u201cIsrael will not tolerate it,\u201d the Prime Minister\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n
The statement also dismissed Erdo\u011fan\u2019s recent warnings directed at Israeli leaders and military personnel, calling them an attempt at intimidation.<\/p>\n
\u201cErdo\u011fan\u2019s pathetic attempt to intimidate the leaders and soldiers of Israel, the only true democracy in the Middle East, will go nowhere,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
The unusually strong language comes amid heightened tensions surrounding the security situation in Syria and the broader regional rivalry between Israel and Turkey.<\/p>\n
Ankara has repeatedly criticised Israeli military operations in the region, while Israeli officials have increasingly expressed concern over Turkey\u2019s growing involvement in Syria.<\/p>\n
The latest exchange highlights the increasingly tense relationship between the two countries, which have become prominent rivals over regional security, Syria and the wider Middle East.<\/p>\n
