{"id":4795,"date":"2026-05-13T12:11:18","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T12:11:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/turkiye\/4795\/"},"modified":"2026-05-13T12:11:18","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T12:11:18","slug":"ge-vernova-enka-launch-852mw-kirklareli-plant-in-turkiye-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/turkiye\/4795\/","title":{"rendered":"GE Vernova, ENKA launch 852MW K\u0131rklareli plant in T\u00fcrkiye"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">GE Vernova and ENKA have announced the launch of commercial operations at the 852MW K\u0131rklareli power plant, located roughly 20 miles from the Bulgarian border in T\u00fcrkiye.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">This facility is the first H-class (HA)-powered plant in the nation, a notable advancement in modernising T\u00fcrkiye&#8217;s power generation fleet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">As part of a multi-year agreement, GE Vernova will provide long-term maintenance aimed at enhancing the plant\u2019s asset visibility, reliability and availability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The launch event was attended by senior government officials including T\u00fcrkiye&#8217;s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, along with representatives from GE Vernova and ENKA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">GE Vernova provided the following equipment for the combined-cycle power generation at the plant: a 9HA.02 gas turbine, a H78 generator, an STF-D650 steam turbine and a triple-pressure heat recovery steam generator (HRSG).<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">ENKA\u2019s in-house teams managed the full scope of engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning, completing the work in roughly eight million person-hours over 36 months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">ENKA chairman of the board and president Mehmet Tara said: \u201cBy delivering flexible, high-efficiency power to the national grid, this project reflects ENKA&#8217;s nearly 70 years of engineering heritage, the depth of our in-house capabilities, from design to commissioning, and our long-term commitment to supporting T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s growing electricity needs with efficient, reliable and flexible generation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The facility is projected to exceed 63% net efficiency in combined-cycle operations, making it one of the most efficient in the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">According to the International Energy Agency, natural gas-fired power generation in T\u00fcrkiye has increased substantially over the past two decades and now supplies more than a quarter of the country\u2019s electricity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">GE Vernova Europe, Middle East &amp; Africa gas power business president and CEO Joseph Anis said: \u201cAs T\u00fcrkiye prepares to host COP31, this project highlights the important role that advanced, high-efficiency power generation technologies can play in strengthening energy security, while enhancing grid reliability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cK\u0131rklareli&#8217;s entry into commercial operation marks an important step in our collaboration with ENKA and in bringing GE Vernova\u2019s HA technology to T\u00fcrkiye for the first time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">GE Vernova has been involved in T\u00fcrkiye&#8217;s energy sector for more than 75 years, with an installed capacity of around 33.5GW across various energy technologies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">This project boosts GE Vernova\u2019s total installed gas power capacity in T\u00fcrkiye to approximately 13.5GW.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Prior to this, GE Vernova announced that Scotland\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.power-technology.com\/news\/maraen-port-of-nigg-dogger-bank\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Maraen Port of Nigg;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;Maraen Port of Nigg&quot;}\" class=\"link \">Maraen Port of Nigg<\/a> will serve as the marshalling hub for wind turbine components during the construction of phases B and C of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">&#8220;GE Vernova, ENKA launch 852MW K\u0131rklareli plant in T\u00fcrkiye&#8221; was originally created and published by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.power-technology.com\/news\/ge-vernova-enka-852mw-kirklareli-plant\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Power Technology;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;Power Technology&quot;}\" class=\"link \">Power Technology<\/a>, a GlobalData owned brand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The information on this site has been included in good faith for general informational purposes only.
