Iraq and Turkiye have agreed to include a joint oil
\nrefinery in Ceyhan in a broader energy agreement expected to be signed next
\nyear, IranOilGas Network reported, citing Iraq\u2019s State Organization for
\nMarketing of Oil (SOMO).<\/p>\n
The planned facility would process Iraqi crude at the
\nTurkish Mediterranean port for export to European markets as refined products,
\nproviding Baghdad with additional revenues beyond crude sales.<\/p>\n
The project is part of negotiations on a comprehensive Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi said at the time that The previous pipeline agreement expired<\/a> on July 27.
\nframework covering oil, electricity, water resources, and other areas of
\nbilateral cooperation. On Aug. 1, Baghdad and Ankara signed<\/a> a one-year
\nagreement setting a minimum Iraqi crude export volume of 750,000 barrels per
\nday through the Iraq-Turkiye pipeline to Ceyhan while negotiations on the
\nbroader framework continue.<\/p>\n
\nIraqi and Turkish companies would begin implementing the arrangement, aimed at
\nrestoring oil flows and expanding economic cooperation.<\/p>\n
\nThe route, Iraq\u2019s only active crude export outlet outside its southern
\nterminals, returned to service in September 2025 after a two-and-a-half-year
\nshutdown linked to an international arbitration dispute over Kurdistan Region
\ncrude exports.<\/p>\n
