One Leeds United man could be all but finished at the club as Daniel Farke sets his sights on a new and improved player.

Leeds United got over the line in the end. They earned promotion to the Premier League and won the Championship title on goal difference, taken all the way to the final day by a rampant Burnley side.

It was then revealed that Leeds United were considering sacking Daniel Farke. But the German is set to remain for the time being an he’s seemingly got straight to work on the summer transfer window.

There’s more and more new players being linked with a move to Elland Road every day. Leeds United are now being linked with Vladimir Coufal at West Ham and his Hammers teammate Tomas Soucek too.

But they’re just two of an ever-growing list of players that Leeds United are taking a look at, and inevitably, new players arriving could shunt existing ones down the pecking order.

One such player who risks falling down the pecking order is Brenden Aaronson. Leeds United signed Aaronson for £25million back in 2022 and he’s certainly had mixed spells since, with his 2024/25 performances certainly leaving a lot to be desired at times.

Despite scoring nine and assisting twice, and featuring in all 46 Championship games, Leeds United fans were critical of Aaronson who they say just didn’t contribute as much as a no.10 should do in such a potent side. James McAtee is now being linked with a summer move to West Yorkshire.

Leeds United could spend £25million on McAtee and he’d surely slot straight in as the new no.10, condemning Aaronson to the bench. If Leeds then stay in the Premier League then the 24-year-old Aaronson may never be more than a backup player.

The latest on James McAtee to Leeds United

McAtee was linked with a move to Elland Road in January and has once again been linked. Man City are ready to sell McAtee this summer with his contract set to expire in 2026. Pep Guardiola’s side are asking for £25million for the 22-year-old this summer.

The latest is that Spurs have joined the race to sign McAtee who has no shortage of suitors in both the Premier League and on the continent, with Bayer Leverkusen one team to have been linked.

Leeds United fans are impressed by the McAtee links but how realistic of a deal it is remains to be seen. Either way, Farke and indeed the fans surely want to see the no.10 spot upgraded in time for the Premier League.
