If you want to escape the city but a holiday to Greece isn’t in your budget this side of the school holidays, there’s an option a 12 minute train ride away worth considering.
Greek Aura on Alcester Road in Moseley is a pretty new addition to the neighbourhood, opening a short walk from the new Moseley Village train station last September.
Now the family-run independent is preparing for its first summer by opening a Greek garden for diners that reviewers say ‘makes you forget you’re in the UK’.

While dining on meze, souvlaki, moussaka and dolmades, you can soak in the Birmingham sun and sup Greek wines and beers like you’re on holiday.
To continue tradition, Moza Cela – mum to owner Admir ‘Miri’ Cela – is leading the kitchen with their family recipes.
Miri said: “Opening this garden feels like bringing a piece of the Greek islands to Birmingham.
“In Greece, we say ‘philoxenia’ – it means love of strangers. But here at Greek Aura, there are no strangers.
“The moment you walk through our doors, you’re family.
“This garden is our gift to Moseley; a place where the community can gather, celebrate and experience the true spirit of Greece under the stars.”

As well as evening dining, Greek Aura serves breakfast from 9am until midday, every day.
Dinner is served from midday until 11pm.
Reviewing the restaurant on Google and contributing to its near-perfect 4.8 star rating, Ilir Pergjoka wrote: “Went for morning coffee and breakfast, I loved their new garden.
“Makes you forget that you’re in UK! Highly recommend, will come back for sure!”
Uendy Uesla added: “I came here a couple of times, but with garden opening I’m impressed!
“They have put so much effort in it and you can tell. A true family business, glad that we have them in Moseley!”
