A fire yesterday involving a caravan and several trees in Bristol is thought to have been started deliberately.
The fire was located on a car park of a former sports centre on Whitchurch Lane, Whitchurch.
Avon Fire and Rescue were called to reports of smoke rising from the car park at 5.15pm yesterday (Tuesday, May 13).
Crews from Bedminster were sent to tackle the fire.
Firefighters found several trees and a caravan on fire.
Nearby businesses were evacuated and there were no casualties.
Firefighters used two high pressure hose reels and a 45mm covering jet to extinguish the flames.
Two firefighters wore breathing apparatus.
The cause of the fire is thought to have been by deliberate ignition.
Avon and Somerset Police have been contacted for comment.
A spokesperson from Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews from Bedminster were called at 5.15pm to reports of smoke issuing from a car park of a former sports centre on Whitchurch Lane, Whitchurch.
“On arrival, firefighters found several trees and a caravan on fire and used two high pressure hose reels and one 45mm covering jet to extinguish the flames.
“Two firefighters wore breathing apparatus for safety.
“Persons from a nearby business premise were evacuated and there were fortunately no casualties.
“The cause of the fire is thought to have been deliberate ignition.”
