Rail passengers are being urged to check before they travel as a new timetable is due to come into force this weekend.

TransPennine Express say some routes will see changes to their timings. The company has also announced there will be more seats on Saturday services on a key Manchester service.

The Liverpool to Cleethorpes train, which stops at Piccadilly, Stockport, Warrington and Sheffield, will now be six carriages – the same as weekdays.

Andrew McClements, customer experience and transformation director at TransPennine Express, said: “Whilst the overwhelming majority of our services remain the same – customers should double check any regular journeys they make.

“We continue to focus on creating a reliable punctual service for customers and our new timetable provides us with a great opportunity do this.”

Meanwhile Huddersfield station will shut for four weeks from Saturday, August 29, to Sunday, September 28 bringing disruption to the route.

Mr McClements added: “We urge customers to check before they travel as services may be affected by engineering work. We would like to thank passengers for their patience while work is taking place.”
