AMERICAN AFFAIR looks to have got away very lightly with only a tiny nudge up the handicap from the assessor despite winning very, very easily up in Scotland last time. Of course, it’s a big field, but he appears to be drawn with plenty of pace around him and should get an ideal set-up again.

MEDIA MOGUL looks a solid option going for the hat trick, having been raised just 3lbs for his success at Redcar. He was on and off the bridal on that occasion, suggesting that he’s both not straightforward but definitely keeps a little bit back for himself, which should allow him to stay in front of the handicapper.

ALZAHIR will be a massive each-way price after a below-par effort at headquarters last time, where he was taken back on a speed-favouring track and basically had no chance of running down the leaders late on. He has previously won over this distance, so a free-wheeling mile at this venue will help.

SEE THE FIRE was arguably disappointing on her return at Sandown when she appeared to have quite a lot in her favour, yet was readily put in her place up the hill. She’s dropped back against her own sex for her second try in 2025 and already has some solid Group 3 level winning form at this venue.

Can THE LION IN WINTER maintain that 100% record and his position at the top of the Derby betting? Given his pedigree, the extra yardage looks well within his compass, and he can rubberstamp his position as the leading three-year-old with an authoritative display in here.

TROPICAL STORM wasn’t disgraced against the older sprinters at Newmarket, but being held up on a speed-favouring track certainly hindered his chance of winning. Yet, he managed to keep on from the furlough marker, suggesting he’s well worth another chance.

Back in against his own age group is surely going to be a comfortable move and he can regain the winning thread at a track he’s proven on.
