The Israeli military said Saturday that Capt. Shahar Gamla, 23, and Sgt. Ohad Yaari, 21, were killed in southern Lebanon.

Gamla, from Natur in the Golan Heights, died of his wounds after being hit on Thursday by an explosive drone. He served as deputy commander of a platoon in the Egoz Unit. He is survived by his parents, Yishay and Lea, and his siblings, Rotem and Nitzan.

Yaari, from Rehovot, was killed by accidental discharge of a weapon. He served as a combat soldier in the Givati Brigade. He is survived by his parents, Naama and David, and his three brothers, Moshe, Amitai, and Dvir.

The IDF said the Military Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the circumstances of the incident.

With their deaths, the number of soldiers killed since the start of the current fighting in the north has risen to 30. In addition, four civilians have also been killed.
