EDINBURGH have named 12 players who will leave the club at the end of the season. On top of the already announced departures of flanker Jamie Ritchie, hooker Dave Cherry, scrum-half Ali Price and centre Matt Scott, it has now been confirmed that fellow Scotland caps Mark Bennett, Javan Sebastian and Jamie Hodgson are also moving on, as is injury-cursed Argentina star Emiliano Boffelli.
Loose-head prop Robin Hislop (who has missed significant game-time over the last two seasons with a serious knee injury), winger Jake Henry (who was given a two-year contract extension last summer but spent this season on loan to Coventry), and full-backs Nathan Sweeney and Jack Hocking are also headed towards the Hive Stadium exit door.
In a pretty remarkable coincidence, Scott and Hislop both made their Edinburgh debuts in the same match against Cardiff Blues back on 2nd September 2011 (a 15-38 win for the Welshmen at Murrayfield), with both players having extended spells away from the club playing in England before returning north towards the twilight of their careers.

“As the season nears its end, we bid farewell to a group of players who have each contributed significantly to Edinburgh Rugby,” said Edinburgh head coach Sean Everitt. “I want to express my sincere gratitude for their unwavering efforts, their commitment to the jersey and the passion they’ve shown for this club and our supporters. Every player who departs does so with our best wishes for their future endeavours, both on and off the field.
“In particular, this season sees the departure of four true stalwarts of Edinburgh Rugby, our club centurions: Jamie Ritchie, Mark Bennett, Dave Cherry and Matt Scott. Their dedication and service to this club have been immense, each reaching the remarkable milestone of 100 appearances.
“Their names are forever etched in the history books of Edinburgh Rugby, and their contributions will be remembered by all who have been a part of this journey. We thank them for their commitment and wish them every success in their next chapters.”
