Funeral arrangements have been announced for Glasgow “legend” Frankie Robertson. The much-loved artist and poet was a well-known character around the Barras Market and has been remembered as a “vibrant light in the world”.
Tributes have been paid to the much-loved artist and poet following the news of his death last week.
The community are now coming together to raise money which will go towards giving the 64-year-old the “send off deserving of the friend he was to many”.
Funeral arrangements were announced this week. All are invited to pay their respects to Frankie, meeting at noon on Monday, June 22, at the BAaD, before the procession – escorted by the Barras Bikers – travels “around the wee streets of the Barras”, heading down the Gallowgate to Linn Crematorium. After a one hour service, starting at 1pm, mourners will return to the BAaD to celebrate the life of Frankie.
He was a true free-spirit, the epitome of cool as he strutted around the east end of the city often dressed in tartan, sandals and a red feather boa coat.

Family and friends encourage those attending to wear something that reminds them of Frankie, “faux fur, a fez hat, a kilt, or maybe a pair of sandals…yellow nail varnish is optional”, they said.
Money leftover from the GoFundMe will go towards a local mental health charity.
Days on from the news, a ‘Frankie Boy’ mural appeared on a wall at the Barras Market carpark. The words are followed by a painting of Frankie wearing his red fez hat, kilt, sandals and iconic boa coat – rather fitting.
Members of the community described the recent mural a “cracking tribute”, and plan to take a trip to the Barras to honour the “true legend”.
Many have said the Barras will “never be the same”.
