Bristol is strongly represented in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours list, with awards recognising leading figures from the creative industries, academia, public health and community work across the city and wider region.

Among the most notable recipients are Aardman Animations co-founders Peter Duncan Fraser Lord and David Alan Sproxton, both knighted for services to the animation and creative industries. Also recognised at CBE level is Professor David John Gunnell, for his work in public health and suicide prevention.

Other honourees include environmental campaigner Mary Colwell, education and skills leaders such as Heather Frankham and Alexia Williams, and Professor Andrew Mumford of the University of Bristol. The list also features a wide range of community contributors, charity leaders and public service workers recognised for their impact across Bristol and the South West.
