Royal fans couldn’t help but notice the similarities between the Queen’s smart outfit and that of Kate Middleton, who donned a sleek suit for an important engagement this week. To present The Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design during an event in London, Kate chose an olive green suit from Victoria Beckham which, like the Spanish royal, she paired with a white blouse. The two women both chose statement earrings – Letizia, a gold pair from PDPAOLA and Kate, a diamond-and-pearl set inherited from the late Queen Elizabeth – and even wore similar shoes, sporting plain, pointed-toe nude pumps to allow their outfits to shine.

Queen Letizia is a fan of Sézane’s suiting, and has worn the label several times before, sporting a burgundy two-piece for an engagement just before Christmas last year. The Princess of Wales is also known to be fond of the brand, which is a key part of both her personal and professional wardrobes – in the past, she has worn a blue patterned dress by the label for a charity polo match, a cream knitted ensemble for an engagement in Nottingham, and grey trousers for a visit to a community hub in Bracknell. She also owns at least seven pairs of Sézane earrings, which sit alongside the grandest of state gems in her jewellery box.
