Bristol Bears Women have bolstered their backline ahead of the 2026/27 season with the signing of Scottish full-back Orla Proctor from Harlequins.
Combining her rugby career with serving in the Armed Forces, the 23-year-old arrives in Bear Country as an exciting new addition to Scott Lawson’s squad, bringing athleticism, versatility and a relentless work ethic forged both on and off the field.
Proctor, who is capable of operating across the backline, started her career at Scottish Premiership side Stirling County before moving into the military to play for the RAF and UK Armed Forces and getting her break in the PWR by signing for Leicester Tigers.
A Corporal in the RAF Police, her ability to break the gainline, create opportunities and contribute defensively will add further strength to Bears Women’s backline after demonstrating her potential in the PWR during her spell with Harlequins.
Proctor said: “Joining Bristol Bears Women is a really exciting opportunity for me in my rugby career. From my conversations with the coaches, it was clear that the club has a strong vision for where it wants to go and I wanted to be part of that journey.
“This move gives me the chance to challenge myself in a new environment, work alongside talented players and continue developing my game. I’m looking forward to stepping out of my comfort zone and seeing what we can achieve together as a squad.”
Bristol Bears Women head coach Lawson said: “We’re really pleased to bring Orla to the club. She’s an ambitious player with an excellent attitude and someone who possesses the qualities we’re looking for as we continue to strengthen the squad.
“Her versatility across the backline, athletic ability and willingness to work hard make her an exciting addition to the group. She’s a great fit for our squad both on and off the field, and we’re looking forward to welcoming her to the club ahead of the new season.”
