Ingka Group, the largest IKEA retailer, has acquired its first two solar parks in Spain. Ingka Investments, its investment arm, acquired La Oliva in Villasequilla (Toledo) and another solar site in Los Alcázares (Murcia). La Oliva is already operational and is generating an estimated 51 GWh annually from the Toledo solar farm. The Murcia site will add another 55 GWh per year, taking the two Spanish parks’ combined annual output to 106 GWh. The assets strengthen Ingka Group’s renewable energy presence in Iberia, one of its prioritised markets, and form part of its global renewable energy portfolio. The company has already invested or committed EUR 4.3 billion (~ $4.945 billion) across that portfolio. Ingka Investments recently hybridised its wind farm in Portugal by adding solar panels. With the Spanish parks and Portugal hybrid asset, Ingka Investments’ renewable production in Iberia will reach 323 GWh annually.
