A person has died following an incident at a gym in Weston-super-Mare.
Emergency services were called to the PureGym at the Gallagher Retail Park yesterday morning, Wednesday, May 14.
Gym staff and other members immediately reacted and tried to help the person.
Paramedics then arrived at the scene, but despite their best efforts, the person died.
The gym was closed yesterday morning following the incident, but a spokesperson has confirmed that it has since reopened.
At the time of the incident, witnesses said: “Why is PureGym shut and when will it open”.
A PureGym spokesperson said: “We can confirm that very sadly a member died at PureGym Weston-Super-Mare yesterday morning.
“Our gym team and other members promptly assisted the individual, using our emergency red help point to call for further assistance.
“Paramedics arrived swiftly, but despite their best efforts the member sadly passed away.
“We extend our sincere condolences to their family and friends.”
