Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Tom Lammonby could both return to action for the clash with Warwickshire

Somerset will be hoping that Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Tom Lammonby can pass late fitness tests to feature in the County Championship against Warwickshire from Friday as they look to back up their stunning win over defending champions Nottinghamshire.
The Cider Boys’ 306 run win at Trent Bridge saw them rocket up the table to sit third after seven games and half way through the season. It is Warwickshire who sit fourth, two points behind, who visit Taunton on Friday with anyone of eight sides in with a hunt of claiming the title, as Essex in first are only 28 points ahead of Glamorgan in eighth.
But Somerset will have to do without captain Lewis Gregory who was substituted during the win with a hamstring strain. And with Will Smeed (finger) and Tom Abell (hand) also out injured, Tom Banton unavailable, and James Rew playing for England, Somerset’s resources have been stretched.
But Kohler-Cadmore, who hasn’t played since the opening round of the season where he scored a hundred, will face a fitness test after his broken thumb, and Lammonby on his elbow injury he suffered during the Vitality Blast campaign. Somerset will want at least one of them to be passed fit as the 13-man squad for the game, with Craig Overton as captain, only includes five other batters so would leave the side horribly unbalanced and with a long tail if neither are fit.

Ahead of the match, Somerset Head Coach, Jason Kerr said: “We had a great four days at Trent Bridge, particularly with the stretched resources that we have at the minute. It’s about doing the simple things better than the opposition for a long period of time, and we did that in abundance. I think the way we batted, particularly in the first innings, was excellent. It was an incredible effort. We continued to do things really well throughout the four days and it was a fantastic performance. We’ll need to dig into that resolve again as we take on Warwickshire this weekend.
“We always talk about being in a position where we can have a real crack at the title come September, and hopefully we can do that. This is the last Championship game for a while before we go back into the Blast, so we need to try and put ourselves in a really strong position ahead of those last few games.”
