PARIS — French defense giant Thales has signed a contract with the Singapore Navy to supply an artificial intelligence-powered mine detection system, looking to help bolster defense of the Singapore Strait, one of the world’s most important shipping routes.
The system will be installed on unmanned surface boats produced by ST Engineering, a major Singapore defense equipment manufacturer. Thales also will be responsible for future maintenance and operational support.
